Abhyasa is a performance platform, hosted at the Silambam Houston Cultural Arts Center. It is open to any Houston arts student (post-arangetram), and aims to provide a platform for emerging artists to present full-length traditional repertoire performances.
This is not a program hosted by Silambam - Silambam will not sell tickets, provide videography or photography, or otherwise take any ownership of the performance. Rather it is a performance hosted at Silambam.
Silambam provides the venue (at no cost) and techs (at the performer’s expense). Performers are able to invite friends and family to watch, and in the process develop their artistic practice and gain stage experience.
Our goal with Abhyasa is to create space for the artistic journeys of emerging dancers and musicians in the Houston area.
